100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Morisoli Vineyards in Rutherford.
Rainfall and cooler temperatures dominated the beginning of the 2010 season, but with no frost, flowering and fruit-set occurred about 2 weeks later than several previous vintages. Temperatures remained mild, some say even chilly, until the first heat spike of the season which occurred just as harvest was underway. This late heat left some grapes sunburnt but still unripe. As a normal part of our vineyard management, these clusters and others that have ripened unevenly were dropped before the fruit was brought in for crush. The later bud break combined with the cooler temperatures pushed harvest well into October for Napa Valley Cabernets, shortening the harvest season and keeping KaDieM winemaker Michael quite busy. For our KaDieM 2010 Cabernet wine though, this longer, cooler season and accelerated harvest produced a more balanced wine with lower alcohol levels and a more integrated palate.

Our second vintage of KaDieM Cabernet Sauvignon delivers the same elegance, balance and finesse of the inaugural 2009. A hand-crafted, limited production Napa Valley wine made with grapes farmed and harvested from Morisoli Vineyards in the Rutherford appellation, this wine exhibits the classic black cherry bouquet and deep garnet color of the terroir. The mosaic of flavors weave cocoa and vanilla, ripe red fruits and spicy toasted oak with red licorice in a robust but silky texture. Subtle tannins deliver a wine of true character that will continue to grow in complexity and richness over the next 8-10 years. We often serve KaDieM Cabernet with tri-tip sandwiches, slow cooked beef roast, mushroom risotto with root vegetables or a large tray of semi-hard and hard aged cheeses. And we never forget a rich, dark chocolate cake!
